Tobacco Docs Worth $25k/Day The Washington Post reports that British American Tobacco is paying a $25,000 per day fine for not turning over internal documents in a case brought by the DOJ against the company. "The daily fines for contempt of court were imposed Friday by U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler in Washington to pressure the company to turn over papers from its Australian subsidiary. Those documents are believed by the government to describe efforts by BAT to hide the health dangers of tobacco and cigarettes as well as a plan for destroying evidence that might be harmful to the company.
