I'm never quite sure how to feel about voter apathy. My vote counts more if apathy is high. In this past election for the presidential primary and a referedum, I was practically a delegate or something! If I were to successfully encourage people to vote, many of them would vote against me. Of course, if we look at voting demographically, it is likely that my personal interests would be better represented if those people that most often don't vote actually did vote. A large factor for apathy, though, is that a lot of people are hunky-dory and reasonably content. As long as they don't lose their own job or our military doesn't engage in violence on our own soil, they really don't care to vote.
Yet another factor for apathy is our annoying 12-hour polling session. 12 hours on a weekday is just too short, especially considering the crowds involved.
