A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Create a Minority Affairs Standing Committee
Ballot Question: Shall the Student Government Association Constitution (Article V, Section 2, Subsection a and c) be amended to create a Minority Affairs Standing Committee and to add the Minority Affairs Committee Chairperson to the Executive Council?
THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION HEREBY AMENDS ITS CONSTITUTION TO REFLECT THE FOLLOWING CHANGES IN TWO SECTIONS:
Article V. The Legislative Branch currently reads:
Section 2. Committees
Standing Committees:
There shall be four standing committees:
1. Academic Affairs Committee - Shall consider matters concerning academic and instructional items and issues.
2. Student Life Committee - Shall consider matters concerning non- academic and co-curricular items and issues.
3. Internal Affairs Committee - Shall consider matters concerning the function and operation of the Student Government Association.
4. External Affairs Committee: Shall consider matters concerning the local government.
Add the following changes and add section four to Article V. The Legislative Branch

A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Increase Student Representation
Ballot Question: Shall the Student Government Association Constitution (Article 8, Section 3, Subsections c and d) be amended to increase student representation?
THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION HEREBY AMENDS ITS CONSTITUTION TO REFLECT THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:
Article 8, Section 3, Subsection c and d currently read:
197 Â c. Â Each school or college shall elect one Senator for every 1500
198 Â students, or a portion thereof, enrolled within the school or college.
199 d. Â Colleges with fewer than 1500 students shall elect one senator.
Make the following changes to take effect for the Spring 2000 elections:
197 c. Â Each school or college shall elect one Senator for every 1000
198 students, or a portion thereof, enrolled within the school or college.
199 d. Â College with fewer than 1000 students shall elect one senator.

A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Allow SGA to Appoint a Faculty Advisor
Ballot Question: Shall the Student Government Association Constitution (Article IX) be amended to allow the appointment of a faculty advisor by the President of the Student Government Association, subject to a majority-vote confirmation by the Senate.
THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION HEREBY AMENDS ITS CONSTITUTION TO REFLECT THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:
Article IX. Currently reads:
207 At least one advisor to the Student Government Association shall be appointed by the
208 Vice President for Student Affairs in consultation with the Student Government Association.
209 At least one additional advisor to the Student Government Association may be appointed 210 by the Student Government Association President with approval of a majority of the Senate.
Make the following changes to Article IX:
207 The student government association president may appoint at least one faculty 208 advisor, subject to majority confirmation of the Senate.

A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Increase Accountability
Ballot Question: Shall the Student Government Association Constitution (Article VIII Elections, Section 2) be amended to require Senators to perform their duties throughout their terms? Â
THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION HEREBY AMENDS ITS CONSTITUTION TO REFLECT THE FOLLOWING CHANGE:
Article VIII, Section 2 currently reads:
187 A. Must meet all requirements as defined in Constitution for the office.
188 B. Shall submit a petition of signatures with the lesser of 100 or 10% of the
189 students enrolled in the school or college in which they stand for election.
190 C. Shall serve a term of one academic year, or until successors are elected,
191 whichever occurs first.
192 D. Shall be elected at the same time as the President and Vice-President.
Add section E to Article VIII, Section 2:
193 E. Â Must be capable of fulfilling obligations of the office throughout the entire calendar year.

A Bill to Amend the Constitution to Promote Student Autonomy
Ballot Question: Shall the Student Government Association Constitution (Article X) be amended to allow ratification of constitutional amendments without the approval of the administration? Â
THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION HEREBY AMENDS ITS CONSTITUTION TO REFLECT THE FOLLOWING CHANGE:
Article X currently reads:
215 Article X. AMENDMENTS
216 Any amendment to the Constitution shall require a first and second reading at a Senate
217 meeting. Upon first reading, the amendment will be sent to the Internal Affairs Committee for
218 consideration. At least one week shall transpire between the first and second reading. Â Upon
219 second reading, the Senate may vote on the proposed amendment. Two-thirds  approval of all
220 Senators is required for a campus-wide vote on the amendment. A majority of  the students
221 then voting must approve the amendment. The Vice-President shall set the date of the vote.
222 The amendment then must be approved by the President of the University of
223 Georgia for passage.
