SGA-External Affairs Committee

The External Affairs Committee is devoted to increasing student involvement in the local government and to raising awareness among students of A-CC policy.
EAC, by SGA Constitutional Amendment, has become a standing committee.

About the Committee:

The External Affairs Committee is comprised of students from all over campus who share an interest in local politics and student advocacy.

In 1998, the External Affairs Committee and SGA members distributed over 1,500 voter registration forms in the Athens area.  Here, SGA President Brett Newman and an External Affairs Committee member registered students to vote on the Eastside of Athens.  Photo: Jeff Blake for the Athens Daily News.

The Student Government Association sent Resolution #11-01 to the A-CC Commission, which expressed more effective ways to deal with housing issues in the County.  Here, Chris Hoofnagle, Chair of External Affairs presented the resolution.  Photo: Andrew Davis Tucker for the Athens Daily News.

External Affairs Members led a publicity drive on the UGA Campus in 1998 to promote on-campus activism and awareness of A-CC policies.

A-CC officials claimed that the housing ordinance was not adopted to discriminate against students.  EAC debunked these claims.
