SGA-External Affairs Committee

The External Affairs Committee was created by Mr. Newman and Mr. Pitts to increase student involvement in local government.  The EAC will become a standing committee in 1999.

Pedestrian Safety

SGA officials have requested traffic-calming measures for Bald win and Baxter Streets, but the A-CC Government will not honor the requests.  Meanwhile, students die every year due to the narrow lanes, low sidewalks, and fast vehicle speeds.

But, A-CC will install traffic-calming measures in other areas.
For instance, no one has died in the Sunset Neighborhood, but A-CC placed traffic-calming measures in the area using the Neighborhood Traffic Management Plan (NTMP).  But, NTMP does not apply to Lumpkin Street, because Lumpkin Street is not considered a neighborhood.  It's not a neighborhood?  Tell that to the 1,000s of students who live there.

By the way, it is against A-CC's policy to install pedestrian controlled traffic signals.
