Recommendation to Improve Campus Safety Through Action in
Changing Campus Lighting
THE STUDENT BODY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA THROUGH ITS ELECTED
MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE:
Whereas, based on the lighting survey conducted by Alex Tobar (University Police),
Keith Barnett (Physical Plant), Rick Rose (Student Affairs), Meredith
Jones (SGA), and Holly Gooding (SGA) on the 29th of October, 1997, the
Academic Affairs Committee of the Student Government Association
recommends the following actions to improve the lighting situation on the
University of Georgia campus.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
The Student Government Association supports the following actions:
HIGH PRIORITY ACTIONS
Two post lights needed in area between front entrance of Brumby and parking lot
at Brumby- one by bike racks, one at the end on walkway at bottom of hill.

Either install wall packs above benches on the South side of the Brumby
Rotunda or install key switches to the study rooms and leave those interior lights
on all the time with one wall pack installed in center of that wall.

Four or five pole lights needed along the stairs from Cloverhurst Street down to
the Legion Pool parking lot.

Pole light or wall pack needed outside entrance to Snelling Hall

Pole light needed by bus stop in front of Plant Sciences Building.
MIDDLE PRIORITY ACTIONS
One post light in the island between Brumby and Russell Halls.
Pole light needed in southeast corner of parking lot on south side of Hardman
Hall
Refocus wall pack on East side of Aderhold to shine on Southern corner of lower
parking lot.
Pole lights needed all along walkway from back of PVAC to the bus stop on East
Campus Road.
