THE STUDENT BODY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA THROUGH ITS ELECTED MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:

Whereas, it is with great interest that SGA, on behalf of the University of Georgia student body, has observed the possibility of implementing a commuter rail line as a transportation alternative between Athens and Atlanta; and,

Whereas, a significant mumber of UGA students, faculty, and staff often travel between Athens and Atlanta for personal reasons and University business; and,

Whereas, each year a great number of Atlanta residents frequent Athens for sports events; and,

Whereas, Athens is a satellite host for the 1"6 Olympics being held in Atlanta which will cause the traffic flow between Athens and Atlanta to increase manifold; and,

Whereas, a rail line between the two cities would help alleviate transportation problems and hazards affecting the aforementioned commuters, as well as the problems which may arise from increased enrollment in upcoming years.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Student Government Association of the University of Georgia pledges full support to a commuter rail fine between Athens and Atlanta, and urges that strong efforts be made for its' implementation. -
