TITLE: Resolution Concerning Student Football Seating

THE STUDENT SENATE AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE STUDENT BODY OF
THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, the one hundred year tradition of University of Georgia football
is an integral part of the vitality and legacy of the University of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, University of Georgia students should receive prime seating at
University of Georgia home football games because the
University of Georgia football team represents the University,
which was created for the students.
WHEREAS, at the 1992 Southeastern Conference Spring Meeting the athletic
directors passed the following policy with regard to the seating
location of students at football games:
At Southeastern Conference football games
students/bands must be located on the opposite
side of the field from the visiting team or if
located on the visiting team side must be seated
from the 30-yard line toward the goal line so as
not to be behind the visiting team bench and at
least 25 rows up,
which will go into effect for the 1993 football season; and
WHEREAS, student behavior at Southeastern Conference football games is
not a widespread problem but only a problem at a few SEC
schools; and
