MINUTES OF SENATE MEETING
MAY 299 1990
1. CALL TO ORDER
The full senate meeting of the Student Association of the University of
Georgia was called to order at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 1990 at
Phi Kappa Hall. Vice-President Ben Calhoun presided.
H. OPEN FORUM
A. Phil Smith, president of the UGA Young Democrats, invited SA
members to a reception for Congressman Doug Barnard Thursday,
ftm 5-7 p.m. at Trumps.
III. ROLL CALL
Senators Deshmukh, Ginder, Marsh and Hill had excused absences.
Senators Bourg and Griffin were late to the meeting.
IV. READING OF MINUTES
The minutes of the May 22 meeting were approved as read.
V. OFFICER REPORTS
A. PRESIDENT
1. Communication between all members is important. Please
bring all feedback, input and problems to exec, especially
prior to matters to be voted upon.
2. We will have a major focus on legislative lobbying this year,
beginning summer and fall, and especially during the
legislative session next winter.
3. Anyone who will be in Athens for the summer needs to let
Heath know.
4. We need to provide input to Univeristy Council concerning
semester feasibility. Currently, emphasis in the Council is
not being placed on how such a change will affect students.
B. VICE-PRESIDENT
1. Explained reasoning behind the selection of Heath Garrett,
Ben Calhoun and Tom Thomas as nominees for Georgia
Athletic Association Board.
2. Please do not let personal problems interfere with your
position as a Senator. We all need to be working together.
