Dear Dr. Knapp:
During your last visit with the Student Association, you made reference to the
possibility of having a second safety escort van placed in operatien (assuming
there was evidence of a true need for a second van). As you suggested at this
meeting, the Student-Association has worked with the University Police Department
to develop estimates of the cost that would be incurred by adding a second van
to the University's safety transportation system. Also, we have provided you
with some figures on the van's ridership participation rates. We believe these
figures indicate a true need for placing a second van in operation. Many students
have complained about having to wait for twenty minutes or more for a ride because of the large volume of riders that the one van must serve.
In addition to the estimate concerning the addition of a second van, estimates
have been included for a few needed modifications to the transportation system's
communication equipment.
We would be happy to discuss these matters with you should you desire.
