REASON: At the October 11th meeting of the University Council the proposal
 by the University Curriculum Committee to eliminate the 5-hour
 physical education requirement was tabled. The University
 Curriculum Committee presented a survey that was taken of the
 faculty concerning the requirement, but did not present a survey
 with student opinion. Since more time has become available for
 consideration of the proposal before the University Council, we
 feel the Student Government Association should take a survey
 of the student body to give the University Council a stronger
 understanding of student opinion on this issue. The results of
 the survey will be presented to the University Council on or
 before the November meeting.
