                  October 20, 1992


      The meeting was called to order at 8:00.

      Guests of the meeting were welcomed by the Vice-President.

Under Open Forum, Senator Martin welcomed Ray Tripp, Director of the Financial Aid Office at the university. Mr. Tripp explained the process for requesting financial aid. He also explained the qualifications used in determining financial aid and the new laws concerning financial aid. Mr. Tripp answered questions for the senate concerning personal problems with the current aid system and encouraged needing more information to contact the Financial Aid Office in the Academic Building.
A motion was made and seconded to dispense with the reading of the minutes. Secretary Vanlandingliam noted that the minutes were not available to the Senate at the meeting, but would be available at the next meeting.
      Under President's Rcvou:

President Bradberry announced that an advertisement for a Minority Affairs Chair would be print in the Red & Black.
Ashlee Lansdall was asked to show the T-shirts to the Senate. The President asked that senators that had not paid for their shirts do so as soon as possible. In conjuction with the T-shirts, the idea of student input days was announced. The decision was to be decided during New Business.
Questions concerning the Better Relations Day with University of Florida were raised by Senators Ware and Alcus. They inquired as to why the senate was not notified. Senator Ware also pointed out that she was asked to coordinate Better Relations Day, and knew nothing about it. Senator Perry explained Iliat tile Florida delegation waited to the last moment to announce their attendance. President Bradberry apologized for the lack of communication concerning Better Relations Day.
      Under Vice-President's Report:

V.P. Hirata thanks Senators Perry and Genies for driving during the Homecoming Parade. She also thanks Senator Martin for arranging guest speakers to address the senate.
      Under Pro-Tem'~ Report:

Senator Disque thanked participants for their assistance with tile polls during the freshman elections. She announce this years freshman senate: Nathan Ballard, Gregory Bell, Anne Bioty, Taslia Cox, Julie Mickle, and Mcglian McCarthy.
Senator Disque announced that. mandatory office hours would begin on Monday October 26. She asked that the senate give her a copy of their class schedules.
Senator Disque also announced that absences during committee meetings will count as 1/2 an absence on the official record. She also distributed a list with the absentee list for the Senate.
      There was no report for Secretary or Treasurer.
