John feels that the members need to decide That SGA is and where are we going?" We need to figure out what our role is. He also feels that SGA may need a little more support from the administration so we could get more done.

Mr. Cochran explained that within an institution such as the university, the mechanism is complex. Sometimes the process is slow.

"ile you may be enthusiastic and eager and want change - it takes time to make change happen in a system like ours.

Mr. Cochran suggested that the executive committee coalesce and decide what the role of SGA is on this campus. Let's get this solved in the executive committee or you can't lead the Senate. What are the issues that are in the forefront where students are concemed and how can we present this to the administration. The execs need to come to this agreement so they aren't pulling against themselves and can move forward.

John asked what everyone thought about SGA coming up with a Mission Statement.

Ashlee Lansdale feels the Senate needs to work together with the executives. The Senate needs to be informed so they will trust the executives, they feel they are shut out and don't know what is going on.

She feels the minutes of executive meetings should be read by the Senators.

Jay's feelings are that if you open the executive meetings like that - then we have lost our authotity to do things. 7hey elected us, so they should already have trust and confidence in us.

Andy wants the executives to harnmer things out themselves, and then take it to the Senate.

Shawna brought up the fact that some Senators say the execs did this and that (too much). Maybe we shouldn't mention everything that is done in our meetings.

John mentioned that maybe he needs to spearhead the Senate toward what they need to do. He wants the Senate to be involved in determining our Mission Statement.

Andy's feels if the execs bring things to the Senate, maybe it will open the door and they nil/ feel more useful.

Mr. Cochran made the point, one of the problems we have had since SGA has come about is the Senate tends to want to work as a whole - rather then relying on standing committees to do work and b7ing back a report.

First, this executive committee must come togedw and then submit a Mission Statement to the Senate and let them debate the philosophy of the statement.

John raised the question, "If something is outside our realm, should we do it?"

William feels it should be up to the Senate to decide.

Mr. Cochran stated then SGA would be whatever the majority decided at any given time.
