for excessive absences (though he verbally resigned, he did not present written documentation to the Vice-President).

Richard Martin presented Senate Bill 5-09 concerning office improvements by having a computer system allocated in next year's SGA budget. Nancy DeMetz argued against the bill. Jason Williams and Andy Vanlandingham argued for the bill. After much discussion, the Alex Panos motioned for the bill to be tabled. The bill was tabled because Student Activities is planning to put a computer in the typing room across from the message center by our office.
Richard Martin presented Senate Bill 5-10 concerning the voting procedures for the SGA elections. The bill did not pass the committee, but the executive committee allowed the bill to be presented to the senate under minority opinion. The goal to the bill was to open up the voting process to encourage students to vote in the election. Many arguments were made for and against the bill. The strongest arguments supported the bill because it opened up the elections process and allow students to vote beyond the current class standing. Arguments against the proposed change centered on the fact that no limit was presented on the number of senators to be elected by one person. The bill would allow students to vote for up to 34 Senators. A few members felt that there should be a limit to the number elected by one student Mr. Cochran clarified the current voting structure to the senate and explained the benefit of the change. A motion was made and seconded to accept the bill. The bill was passed with amendments (see Bill 5-10).
President John Bradberry presented Bill 5-11 and motioned for urgency on the bill. The bill was passed out of the Student Life Committee with some amendments. The bill did not go to Executive Committee due to the time in which it was proposed. The goal of the Bill was to object to the possible increase in on hard liquor, 3% tax, and the increased hours for downtown parking. It was suggested that the bill exclude asking for more attention from the A-CC Commission, because it is the students responsibility to vote and make a change within the government. The discussion moved from the Bill into discussions on how to influence the student population in voting during the elections. A suggestion included running a student in a primary in a district which is populated by students. The motion was called to end discussion. The Bill was approved with word changes (see Bill 5-11). It was brought to the attention of the senate that SGA would sponsor a petition drive and attend a meeting of the city commission next week.
Jay Genies presented an amendment to Bill 5-07 concerning the SEC ruling on student seating. The amendment would change the seating number, because the SEC amended its policy since the bill had been passed. The bill was amended.
