Ideas about who to include on President's Council were discussed briefly. Telvis has considered possibly IFC, BAC, and RHA. He also would like to include any organizations who have large attendance as well as groups who represent a wide range of international students.
Julie discussed her schedule of meetings and sites for the freshman elections. Petitions are available today and are due on October 8th. There will be an information meeting in Russell lobby on September 30th. She will be meeting with all freshman candidates on October 14th at 7:00 p.m. to discuss all the campaigning rules and expectations for senators. Campaigning begins on October 18th. Elections will be on October 27th. Then on October 28th Julie will meet with the freshman and give them a copy of the Constitution and get them oriented and put in committees so that when they are sworn in on the 2nd they will be ready. It was decided that Russell Hall, Tate Center, and the Science Library would be the sites for polling. Mr. Cochran wanted to make sure that the senators would be expected to provide manpower for the polling sites. He also suggests that there should be extra people manning the Tate Center site.
Ron Jones brought up possibly going into an actual committee meeting next week. After brief discussion, all agreed. Adam Goldstein reminded Ron that if a speaker was expected to attend we should go ahead and schedule. Adam offered to look for a speaker if that was desired. Mr. Cochran informed that President Knapp had expressed his interest in attending more meetings, and that we should invite him.
Minutes were briefly discussed. It was decided that reporting the general business and decisions made is more important than keeping up with every word said.
